Changes to regulations regarding child transport sessions are now in effect, as of March 1 2023.

As you may be aware, transportation requirements for centre based care services have changed. To avoid financial penalties, centre based care service must ensure compliance with the following updates:

  • Approved providers and nominated supervisors must ensure a staff member or nominated supervisor (other than the driver) accounts for children as they get in or out of a vehicle at an education and care service.
  • Approved providers and nominated supervisors must ensure records are made showing children are accounted for as they get in or out of a vehicle at the education and care service.
  • Approved providers and nominated supervisors must ensure records are made confirming a check of the inside of a vehicle was completed at the service after all children have left to ensure no children remain.
  • Approved providers must notify the regulatory authority when they start providing or arranging regular transport, and again when they finish. This can be done through the NQA ITS.

Child Care Central CCS Software services have received a Bus Roll update that ensures compliance with these new changes.

What is Bus Roll?

Bus Roll allows educators to digitally mark children in and out of care during transport runs. Whether it’s drop offs, pickups or both, Bus Roll will reduce the time and pressure of taking attendance on the go.

Bus Roll is integrated with Child Profiles, meaning that users can quickly access a child’s details if needed (i.e. parents phone number). Bus Roll is PIN locked and may only be accessed by users who have e-Signatures enabled.

Additionally, when children are marked as Picked Up or Dropped Off, an e-Signatures entry is automatically created. This allows educators to keep an in-depth record of a child’s sign in history.

How has Bus Roll changed?

Our team has added a declaration to the bottom of the Bus Roll form. Providers will be able to use this to sign off that a check has been performed of the vehicle, and that no children remain. This will ensure compliance with the new changes to child transportation.
