Children’s Week 2021 kicks off on the 23rd of October and finishes on the 31st. For the Child Care Central team, this is an extremely special occasion. On a daily basis, hundreds of our services work with children, witnessing them embark on early learning journeys. For this year’s Children’s Week, the theme is based on UNCRC Article 15, whereby children have the right to choose their friends, and safely connect with others.

During this period of their lives, children are shaped and influenced exponentially by those teaching them, but also those who they surround themselves with. UNCRC Article 15 explores the idea that children from ANY background should be encouraged to engage in different activities and discussions with those that are likeminded to them.

To effectively support children’s rights, we must make sure parents are aware of what is happening with their child(ren) whilst in care.

For Child Care Central users, this is a simple process. Using the Parent Portal, a core feature of Child Care Central Software, services can directly share important information with parents. For example, take photos of children in care talking with others, making friends and joining groups – then upload it to The Diary.

An extra benefit of using the Parent Portal is its direct link with NQF standards, in particular Quality Area 1. One requirement in this section, is that “Families are informed about the program and their child’s progress.” The Parent Portal directly assists services in this area. Once photos and observations are uploaded to the portal, parents can access it from their phones, tablets or desktop.
